Hmm, that’s a funny looking waveform…

What the?!

Trolled!!!

On a more serious note, I just learned you can actually import images into your reaper sessions via drag & drop.  Some users are using this feature to insert chord charts. It might also be a good way to document the session but I will probably just troll my collaborators with it.

Images can be dropped on to any track. If you hide the track the images will still show in the video window. Use the loop function if you want the image to be shown for longer.

Interesting. Do you know which image formats are permitted?

Dear Jon, thank you for this tip !
You are such a great help to me in Reaperland and i assume for many others who use Reaper.
I am really glad that you are a Reaper power user and are willing to give great tips.

    Here’s a question:

Let’s say i want a picture to be visible in a Reaper Project, during the whole length of the Project.
And i want that picture to be at a certain position on the screen, for example at the upper left corner.
Furthermore, the picture has to be visible as an “overlay”, “on top” of a video track in the Reaper Project.

Can you please explain me how i should do this please ?
I really need to know this urgently.

I will thank you a 1000 times if you can help me with this question .. !

    Many thanks in advance !

    Warm regards,
    Rob.

The picture would need to be a PNG with transparent background. The item would need to be looped so you can extend the length as long as you like. Add video processor fx to the image item. Use the Image Overlay preset. The controls there should be all you need for positioning it.
Depending on your project settings for video layer order, this file would be on the top track or bottom in the project.

Do you have any advice on automating the video processor plug-in with images to change things like zoom, horizontal/vertical offset, etc? Upon rendering, I find the automation is smooth at times and very choppy other times.

I would avoid zoom automation but X/Y should be smooth. I like to smooth the automation with ‘slow start/end’ shape.

let’s say i’ve got hundreds or even thousands of images conveniently named as sequential numbers (ie. 0001.jpg to 1000.jpg) and i’m not into dragging and dropping each image into each frame. is there a reascript or a plugin to import image sequences? this would be preferable to me rendering the single images (pretty much the best practice) then making those into a .mov or .mp4 in quicktime which degrades the quality, then dropping that into reaper, then rendering yet again and losing quality yet again. mostly importing the whole sequence at once with a guitar on my lap would be amazing.

you should be able to drag them all in together and put them on one track in order.

But what might be the problem there is they are too long.
      Try this
In preferences, video – you can set the default image duration. if you use “-1” that will be 1 frame.
