In this quick tip video I build a rough mix in seconds using a MIDI controller mod wheel assigned to the action “Track: set selected track volume (MIDI CC/OSC Only)”.

Thanks so much! I was beating my head against the wall the other day trying to figure out how to do this!

How to control volume faders with external MIDI controller :
1- go to Reaper Preferences. In the input list find your MIDI controller. Double click to open the “Configure MIDI window”. Enable input from this device (?) + enable input for control message. click ok. Apply Ok pref.
    2) Open “Actions” window. Type volume. Find Track: Set volume for track 01, or any track. Click on Add. If your controller is properly set and recognised, move controller fader : it should be recognised. click run/close. Should work

Hello, this mod worked better for me, since it works on any track selected, I have 8 sliders and had assigned them to 1-8, but can’t do anything to tracks 8 and over, I thought it could move like scenes, 1-8, 9-16, 17-24 etc, but couldn’t make it work in Reaper, any suggestions? Thanks.

I am looking at the same action for my APC mini. Need the controller to have a modifier key that when selected it actions the next scene (1-8, 9-16, 17-24). 2 modifier keys on the midi controller > one up scene > one down scene. Sorry I couldn’t help but I wanted to add to your post. I will come back here if I get a solution.

Hi YKCIR, I found a script that lights up my APC mini and functions volume, pan and send with the faders on the APC mini. It works from tracks 1-8, 9-16 with a scene key (Shift and Arrow right/left on the APC) which toggles group of 8 across the faders. There is also alot of function which I haven’t explored. It is here: http://www.mossgrabers.de/Software/Reaper/Reaper.html

Great idea! Can this actions list setting be toggled on and off easily? I managed to control selected track volume with my iRig Pro mod wheel using MIDI channel 2 but it is still controlling any open virtual instrument modulation. It would be great to have it off for recording but on for balancing tracks.
