Having been a professional studio musician for over 30 years, I have used darned near everything that has ever been invented for recording. And, yeah- I have even spent long hours over a magnifying glass with a razor blade and analog tape doing manual editing. I was one of the first people to use the very first versions of “Slow Tools” when digital recording started out and made the scene in Los Angeles area studios- and, I hated it. Every version of Cakewalk, Cubase, Logic, Vegas, N-Track had various shortcomings that just continually got in the way.

Having said all that, I have to say that Justin’s software has been and continues to be a breath of fresh air. I can get more done in a shorter amount of time and never sacrifice quality- and what’s especially cool about that is that I can get this done while the “creative juices” are still flowing instead of being bogged down in mindless, esoteric and pseudo-bureaucratic processes that stomp out that fire because of frustration levels and having to perform a ton of actions to do the simplest things.

So, cheers to Justin for creating a truly artful program that continues to shine each and every day. Reaper has become a piece of software that I actually enjoy using, and I’m probably a fan for life.

I can’t even begin to express how much I came to love Reaper after 15 years of Samplitude hell but given their unwillingness to make a native Linux port I may be leaving it. It’s so strange they have so much focus on the scripting and user power yet won’t port it to the OS most akin to that mindset.
