What’s that sound?
In this tutorial I’m demonstrating some of the Preview Media actions for auditioning audio under the mouse cursor.

I’ve known about them for a while but I’ve only just started using them. So helpful for film work.

The reason I looked for preview item when starting with REAPER was I missed it from another DAW. DP previews an item while you hold down the mouse on it.

Do you have any thought about the “Preview media item” vs “Preview take” commands? They seem to do the same thing, but I’m curious if there are advantages to using one vs the other.

preview media will only play the active take and preview take can audition any of the layered takes.

Actually that seems like a better all-around action to use.

As well, I just noticed this whole set of actions is also available as toggles, meaning ability to stop the preview.

      Thanks for pointing that out.
