I often get asked about a double-time metronome and in the past I’ve suggested setting the project timebase for items to Time, then doubling the tempo.
I think I’ve found a way better option for this, using a Delay plugin. WHAT!??

If you put the click on a separate track you have more control over routing and how it sounds, including the fx chain. In this video I show how to get a click track hitting 8th notes by simply adding a delay to the click track. Set ReaDelay to 1 8th note, with all other settings at default. Try out other intervals too, like 1.3.

I love this personally, it’s a lot easier than making custom loops or any of the other options. Check out the related posts below for more click track/metronome tutorials.

I’d rather change the time signature to 8/8. This way you can also change the metronome pattern as desired.

Nice quick solution for doubling up the click without hassling with the timebase or the time signature. Thanks for the tip!
