In this video we look at using the Apple DLS Music Device and ReaControlMIDI. You’ll learn how to load MIDI banks and select presets and adjust hidden parameters of the General MIDI instrument.

Windows users can try out these free soundfont players instead of the Apple DLS Music Device. http://www.kvraudio.com/plugins/windows/instruments/free/soundfont-player/newest

I’D like to use Reaper as a MIDI sequencer – no MIDI data rendered by Reaper, external keyboard connected, recording/importing MIDI, arranging, saving as MIDI so I can use it with my Roland Bk-5. I’ve read User Guide, but I’m pretty confused by Chap 13 dealing with included MIDI editor.

For me I insert the plugin, then set my keyboard to channel 10. ReaControlMIDI isn’t required for the drum mode. If you’re going from the MIDI editor just make sure the channel is set to 10 (bottom right).
