Equivocate is a new EQ plugin developed by Newfangled Audio and distributed by Eventide. About a month ago it was available for free and is now available for $99. More info here.

In this video I’m demonstrating how it can be used to reduce nasty fizzy, ringing frequencies from guitar amps (Line6 Helix is used here) for a smoother guitar tone that sits in the mix better.

EQuivocate has up to 26 bands, and each can be soloed. This makes it easy to isolate and notch out any annoying frequencies in the guitars. I’m really liking this EQ for surgical filtering in mixing and mastering. In the video you’ll hear before and after examples, with and without the full band.

Thanks to Seth Centerbar for sharing the song with me for the demo. Check out his band Kickstand on Bandcamp.
