Xenakios has release a free VST version of the open-source tool Paul’s Extreme Sound Stretch.

It’s an amazing sound mangling tool for creating slow evolving pads and drones and other special effects.

Why use the vst version?

  1. can capture audio in realtime from the track or input
  2. can also import audio
  3. automate any parameter
  4. save presets
  5. works on up to 8 output channels

In the video below I’ve explored some of the possibilities this plugin is capable of just from a short capture of my voice.

You may remember a previous Xenakios project I covered, the CDP Extension for REAPER

Great! Thanks for making this plugin! Just one question (from a person who doesn’t work so often with Reaper and plugins). I imported in the PaulXstretch plugin an audio file, and fooled around with it. Now I’m trying to find out how to put that material into the big audio arrangement I made in Reaper. How do I link the material to the track? I also wonder if I should put first the audio file on the track and then open PaulXStretch plugin. I tried that, but the audio file didn’t appear in the plugin screen.

    Lots of greetings,

    Marieke
