A quick review of the Arturia Minilab mk2 and the included Analog Lab Lite v3 software.
The Minilab packs a punch for only $99.
Pros:
– Inexpensive
– 16 assignable endless encoders
– 8 pads
– 7 custom layouts
– great integration with Analog Lab
Cons:
– small keys
– no aftertouch/pressure
– controls are sometimes jumpy
– MIDI link to reaper functions can be slow
The great integration with Analog Lab is backed by how good the Analog Lab software sounds. The Lite version has over 600 presets taken from Arturia’s huge collection of virtual synths, and they’re adding more often.
If you don’t have a compact MIDI controller for your desk, I would recommend this one.

Hello,
I just watched your video about custom actions to accelerate the FX settings with MIDI controller and noticed that you have Arturia Keylab, which lead me to this video.
I bought Arturia Keystep last week and try to setup it to work with my Reaper 5.962. I find this very complicated. I setup the switches to USB, found driver in Reaper, activated control for input and output, but either I can use sequencer and not having control over transport or the inverse. I searched everywhere and found no solution. Do you have any experience with Keystep or have an idea what to do?
Thanks,
Mike
Not familiar with the Keystep, sorry
Hi, Thanks for the video.
Would you recommend this in 2022 too for a beginner setup?
I am confused between Novation launchkey mini mk3 and Arturia Minilab mk2.
I liked M-Audio Oxygen Pro mini also, but that seems out of stock right now in my country (India).
I don’t think you can really go wrong with any of those options. I did end up selling my Minilab mk2 and I really missed the Analog Lab software.
