LKC Variator is a dockable REAPER script for randomizing item settings and positions. Especially useful for sound design work.

Randomize any of these parameters with strength sliders:

  • volume
  • pan
  • pitch
  • tape/stretch (preserve pitch)
  • Rate
  • Position
  • Content
  • Length
  • Fades
  • Fade Shape
  • File (chance to replace the item with another file)

Save 5 formulas. 4 layouts optimized for vertical and horizontal docking.

Chernobyl button for extreme variation with slicing and overlapping items

I forgot to show or mention this, but it also works partially with MIDI items.

This is ridiculous! I just used it for a sound design project and I managed to create a library of like 40 unique sounding layers in minutes!

One tiny option I’d love to see added is to be able to easily toggle the “loop source” option directly with the script. I know it can be done in the item properties window… but to have it right in the tool would be very handy. Maybe this is something that can be randomized, too.
