Please don’t delete your settings !
I’m seeing the advice to delete all settings or factory reset REAPER way too often. Most users will never corrupt their settings. It’s not that kind of DAW!

So while I do show how to reset your settings in this video, I’ll also arm you with more knowledge of the various files on your hard drive that REAPER saves the preferences into, in case you want to make backups or even make manual changes.

Hopefully you found this video helpful. If you’re having a problem with REAPER you can leave a comment here or our Facebook group. We’d love to help.

I have a problem using the faders in Reaper. I set the midi track controls and the fader does not work. Not only that, but I try midi learn, and the fader goes from o to 127 no matter what I do. I’m ready to delete Reaper because the faders are very important, and I can’t get them to work, Can you help me?

So the goal is to control track volume with a hardware MIDI controller? Which one?
Are you using assigning actions to controller such as “Track: Set volume for track 01 (MIDI CC/OSC only)”

My Reaper preferences have accidentally been completely randomized, I could go through and fix every box but it would be much less work to start from the default prefs. Is there any way I can get the default prefs zip to import? Windows 10 isn’t showing the restore factory defaults option in the start menu. Thanks for the help

I’m leaning towards resetting my settings ever since the draw tool in my midi editor has become the default setting instead of the selection tool (arrow.) I’m new-ish to Reaper so I haven’t really messed with the mouse modifiers or actions at all but somehow turned this on and I have no idea how to turn it off. I couldn’t find much online about it other than make sure my “command” button isn’t stuck, which it isn’t. I have to imagine it’s an easy fix and something that’s right in front of my face. I’m hoping that’s the case and someone can help me out.

    Thank you!

Open the Mouse Modifiers section of Preferences
Find the MIDI contexts and reset just those. That should solve the problem without changing anything else

I don’t want to reset, but I hav no clue what is wrong and I need to fix it lol. It’s probably simple, but I’m a newbie, and can’t figure it out or even explain the issue.
Ultimately can’t record, and sound isn’t going through. I get a message saying “ there was an error opening the audio hardware”
    “Error initializing ASIO driver”
    Help lol

usually that’s because the last used audio device isn’t plugged in, or not turned on, or some other software is preventing reaper from using it.
