Ground Control is a free virtual audio cable app for Mac that allows you to route audio from one app to another, and comes with a monitor control interface.
It’s similar to the discontinued SoundFlower, in most use cases, but with the ability to monitor as a bonus. And its compatible with the latest macs.

This is a great tool for tutorial makers, live streamers and computer music makers.

Try it out here – http://gingeraudio.com

In the video show how you could use Ground Control as a way to record from the mac system output (therefore any playing audio) into REAPER, and how to do the same into OBS for streaming. I also compare it to Loopback 2, which is more fully featured, but costs $99.

Since i installed this a year or two ago (just to try it), 99% of the problems and frustrations in my studio are down to this. It has reduced a £500 PreSonus I/O to no better built in microphone socket, made my latest iMac WORSE than my ten year old one, and i can no longer record any live performances. Please tell me how to uninstall this garbage! It won’t show up in CCleaner o McPaws CleanMyMac.
