Patrick-Gilles Maillot has been working on bringing better integration of the Behringer X32 console control surface with REAPER to all. He’s built a set of free utilities for Windows, Mac and Ubuntu that you can try out now, IF you have an X32 console.
I made the acquisition of a Behringer X32 standard console for my music studio and gig needs.
Great unit! is all I can say. No problem with it, a pretty good sound (to me anyways), easy to manage and learn, and with great effects and a lot of capabilities, including being controllable through OSC protocol.
I decided to spend a little time understanding the OSC programming aspects to interface with the X32, and have it do things for me. At this time, I can share these utilities running under Windows. Ubuntu versions are available too, drop me a line if interested.
X32GetScene: Get a Scene/Snippet file directly out of your X32
X32SetScene: Interprets a Scene/Snippet file and set your X32 accordingly
X32GEQ2cpy: Copies one side of GEQ2 or TEQ2 to the other
X32Reaper: 2-way communication/control X32<->Reaper
Download the tools and read all the details on Patrick’s site. There’s also a discussion here on the REAPER forum.
I asked Patrick about OSX Support for his tools and he replied:
It would have to be ported and recompiled. OSX having a unix origin, I’d hope not too many modifications would be needed.
If I can put my hands on a Mac, I’ll give it a shot.
I will update this post if there is an OSX release.
Update Dec 2 – The utilities are now available for OSX 10.10
Here are some videos demonstrating Patrick’s X32 utilities

Sweet! Thanks for the update and all your hard work. I’ve updated the post.
Hello,
Just to mention I’ve recently added transport, navigation (jump and jog-style) and loop control to X32Reaper. A Windows GUI version is also available.

Hey Patrick
Great work. I have a few questions…
(1) While running X32Reaper … will the normal “Remote” button on the X32 still work … I mean, will the 8 DCA faders on the right of the X32 still control 8 tracks in REAPER?
(2) And will Sets 1 and 2 of the assignable buttons on the right of the X32 still be programmable as before / as they would be when X32Reaper isn’t running?
(3) If I use all 32 of the X32 channels for controlling REAPER … can I route my audio back out of REAPER, through the X32 and to my studio monitors?
Thanks.

How can I get the IP adress to show in Host IP in the control surface setting in reaper when I use Two way communication from Patric Gilles Maillot. I use Behringer X32
I didn’t have a direct box so I plugged my guitar in to aux 3 and then assign 3 on to channel 6. Which the x32 I am using does this just fine but reaper does not see it. I should elaborate I am running an Behringer x32 full and all 32 channels routed and easy record and playback, works great. But I assign a aux yes because I didn’t have a DI at the time direct box if you will. or just a rigged cable even. So I assigned aux 3 guitar in to main channel 6 and its shows up and plays fine. Although Reaper is seeing my Mics and other thing on the other main channels it doesn’t see a signal from channel 6 which is being sent there from aux 3. but shows up plays just do not see it in reaper. I know I wasn’t the only one with this issue and it seems reaper has zero support from what I can tell. So I asked Behringer maybe they will replay but I am betting on you guys l0l…. SO I hope some people see this and maybe pass it on I need to know the nerd in me has to know how to fix it or have then add aux and such that would be nice. but for now im ordering a direct box just cause. I have a cable that will do it some where but this is more fun. Now whoz got me :}
Is the an app available that communicated between Reaper and the Midas R 32 M – it is the same os as the x32
Patrick has done it again! x32ram.com
Hi Patrick,
Have you tried communication between Reason Studios formerly Propellerhead with X32? Or help explaining how to used the X32 with Reason.
Thanks in advance
I know this is a Reaper site. Just curious.
