Jon is back with Ryan Canestro to see how he’s getting on with REAPER after his first month. Turns out he’s already mixed 2 films in 5.1!
This video covers setting up REAPER to mix 6-channel surround from stems and the ReaSurround plugin.

Thanks Jon and Ryan, Very interesting. I’d played with ReaSurround, but haven’t had a chance to use it yet. Glad to know it’s for real!
Its great that reaper is so open to workarounds for many different problems. But in this era of music/sound production, its just completely insane not to have 5.1 support built into the program and having to come up with some huge workaround just to support that mix format!
what workarounds? This is natively implemented
Surely it would be as simple as adding a surround panning option for the tracks? Since we already have support for multichannel tracks and some powerful routing, all that would need to be added is native support for surround sound panning. I really hope we see that released in v5!
