3 ideas for parallel processing chains to enhance rock drums in a mix.

The first effect is a “bright” track with the overheads and hihat, filtered and compressed.

The second is a “trash mic”, taking the kick and snare PreFX sends and running through EQ and the JST Gain Reduction plugin in lofi mode. This is similar sound to using a lo fi mic on the kit.

The third is a “crush” track with EQ and SoundToys DevilLok. This track is fed from the kick, snare and toms.
