Recently Kenny Gioia has started putting up new REAPER tutorials for his site KennyMania.

First there’s Precision automation levels in your DAW, which shows basically the same technique in Pro Tools and REAPER.

Next is Multitrack Drum Recording in REAPER. It’s an interesting way to go about it, definitely smart but I’m not convinced it’s the best way to do it.

The third video posted just a couple days ago is on Dual mono to stereo. There’s an article here where I explain three ways to handle dual mono files, and this is a good fourth option.

Kenny has also launched a sale for this month. Half-price on all his full-length REAPER tutorials. Check it out at KennyMania.

That multi-track drum recording video was pretty interesting.

Has anyone actually worked that way? It seems smart and has some benefits for sure, but it also seems like it’s just asking me to make a mistake and have a problem with the recording.

    Anyone actually used this method?

I don’t. Working with takes in REAPER is tricky especially with multiple tracks, but I have some tricks.
1 – there’s an action to auto-group simultaneously recorded tracks.
2 – after each take drag the right-side edge of items to the end of the song so all takes are the same length.
3A – lock the active take if you want to view all in lanes
3B – or show only the active take
4 – use key commands to select the takes. I use shift-R and Shift-T to cycle through the takes.
5 – assign a different color to each take for easier identification.

Good list o’ stuff to consider, Jon.

I didn’t realize that “auto-group…tracks” action existed. It makes sense, I just didn’t think about it. That’s on my to-do list tonight. Seriously.

Thanks again for all the good info!
