In this tutorial we’re going to use Addictive Drums’ great transform function to adjust MIDI that was programmed inside REAPER.

We will learn:

  • How to drag a MIDI item out of REAPER to create a MIDI File on the hard drive (Hold cmd+option [OSX] or ctrl+alt [Win] and drag)
  • How to find the External MIDI folder for Addictive Drums
  • How to refresh the AD2 MIDI library
  • How to use the AD2 Transform functions (scaling velocity, randomize, reassigning drums)
  • How to import transformed MIDI back to REAPER.

NOTE – I’m aware of the glitches in the video, sorry about that, not sure what happened.

Great tutorial ! Thank you! My fingers are itching to try this! But.

When I open a GM midi file and play AD2 it works after changing AD2 to GM. No problem there.

When I import a GM file as a beat to copy your wonderfull tricks I get other sounds. AD2 is set to GM. When I export it to Reaper – same ‘other’ sounds.

New to this midi – I know I have to do something with a midi map . Can you point me to the right tutorial please ? I keep asking the wrong questions at Google so the answers are misleading.

    Thanks in adcance,
    Tycho
